Happy Halloween Nutrition Tips

It’s hard to believe that Halloween is already next week! If you haven’t already, you will probably have a bowl of candy sitting on your counter soon. There is nothing wrong with enjoying Halloween treats, as long as it’s enjoyed in moderation with other nutritious foods.

One way to avoid mindless candy-eating is to keep it in the pantry/cupboard, out of plain sight. Put it in a container that is not see through so it doesn’t stare at you every time you open the pantry or cupboard door. Instead, keep a bowl of fruit on the counter so you are more inclined to reach for a fiber rich snack when the sweet tooth hits. You can even make the fruit festive by putting it in a Halloween themed bowl or in a trick or treat basket. Overall, the goal is to be intentional about your food choices - if you feel an overwhelming desire for a piece of candy, your best option is not to deprive yourself, which can lead to binging later on. Enjoy a piece or two, check-in with your body, and ask yourself if you are truly satisfied. Chances are, you will be!
